The Tudor Black Bay 58 Bronze brings the warmth of bronze to the smaller Black Bay case—and, unusually, carries it through the bracelet rather than stopping at the lugs. Its shaded brown dial, gilt-colored details, and Arabic numerals at three, six, and nine give it a distinctly different character from the steel Fifty-Eight, without losing that watch’s easy proportions.

Introduced in 2021 as a boutique-exclusive model, reference 79012M also debuted Tudor’s T-fit clasp, whose tool-free adjustment is particularly welcome on a full metal bracelet. That bracelet is central to the experience: Tudor’s bronze-aluminum alloy develops a patina, so the case and links gradually become more individual. On a previously worn example, expect differences in tone between exposed surfaces and areas against the skin; uniform color isn’t the goal. Try the clasp’s adjustment through its range, and decide whether you enjoy the bronze as it has aged—not just how it looked when new.

What owners love

  • The bronze bracelet is a big part of what makes this version work: the case and bracelet age together, rather than leaving a bronze watch head on a strap. Owners who enjoy the patina like how the initially bright finish becomes darker and less flashy with wear.
  • The T-fit clasp lets you adjust the bracelet without tools, which owners appreciate when their wrist expands during the day. Combined with the 39mm case, it makes this an easy watch to get comfortably fitted.
  • The brown dial and bezel suit the bronze particularly well, and the 3-6-9 numerals give it a noticeably different face from the steel Black Bay 58. It's a warmer-looking watch in person than the usual black-dial diver.

Common Criticisms

  • The patina doesn't necessarily develop evenly: the clasp, bracelet and case can darken at different rates, with patches rather than a uniform finish. Some owners also report green marks on their skin from the bronze bracelet, so liking the aged appearance doesn't automatically mean liking every part of wearing it.
