The Swatch Mission to the Moon is the MoonSwatch that stays closest to the Speedmaster’s familiar look: grey case, black dial, white hands, and that unmistakable tachymeter bezel. It translates the Moonwatch’s design into something lighter and less solemn, while keeping enough of its visual language to delight someone who knows the original.

Introduced with the Omega × Swatch collaboration in 2022, SO33M100 is the straightforward choice if you want the lunar connection without the brighter planetary colors. Its Bioceramic case and quartz chronograph make it a very different watch from a mechanical Speedmaster; the subdial layout is one of the clearest tells.

The crystal deserves particular attention: it scratches more readily than sapphire, so distinguish light surface marks from deeper damage. Try the supplied hook-and-loop strap before deciding it suits you; a conventional 20mm strap changes how the watch sits and feels. And treat the 30m water-resistance rating conservatively—this is not a swimming companion.

What owners love

  • The grey case, black dial and white hands give this version the closest visual resemblance to the familiar Moonwatch. Owners who find the other MoonSwatch colours too playful often like how restrained this one looks on the wrist.
  • It is remarkably light for a 42mm watch, which makes it easy to wear all day. The standard 20mm lug spacing also makes swapping out the supplied strap straightforward.

Common Criticisms

  • The crystal scratches easily, and owners regularly report picking up marks through ordinary wear. It is one of the most frequently mentioned frustrations with the watch.
  • The supplied Velcro strap can feel stiff and bulky, particularly on smaller wrists. Many owners replace it because they find the watch sits more comfortably on a different strap.
  • The low weight is not universally loved: the case and pushers can feel plasticky and less substantial than the Moonwatch-like appearance suggests. Owners expecting that appearance to translate into a similar feel are often disappointed.
