The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph pairs the collection’s Maltese-cross-inspired bezel and integrated-bracelet profile with a dial built around elapsed time. Across its generations, the differences go deeper than dial color: case proportions, date displays, movements, and even the way you swap a bracelet for a strap all help distinguish one from another.

The earlier 49140 has a 40mm case and an outsized date at twelve, giving it a noticeably different balance from its successors. The second-generation 49150 grows to 42mm and brings the more pronounced Maltese-cross-link bracelet that became a defining Overseas detail. Both use the automatic caliber 1137, derived from the Frédéric Piguet 1185, with three chronograph registers and that prominent date display.

Introduced in 2016, the 5500V moves to a 42.5mm case and Vacheron’s in-house caliber 5200, a column-wheel chronograph with a vertical clutch. The date shifts between four and five, while a sapphire back reveals the movement and its gold rotor. Its quick-change bracelet and strap system marks another practical departure: changing the watch’s character no longer requires reaching for a tool.
