The Vacheron Constantin Historiques 222 brings back the 1977 “Jumbo” with its fluted bezel, tightly knit bracelet and small Maltese cross set into the case at five o’clock. It wears differently from an Overseas: slimmer in character, quieter on the wrist, and much closer to Vacheron’s original answer to the integrated-bracelet sports watch.

The yellow-gold version, introduced in 2022, pairs a gold-toned dial with a case and bracelet that make the brushed surfaces part of the attraction. The steel version followed in 2025 with a blue dial—a less conspicuous way to enjoy the same distinctive architecture. Both retain the original Jumbo’s 37mm diameter rather than enlarging it for modern tastes.

This is a revival, not a mechanical replica: the automatic 2455/2 is visible through a sapphire back, and the bracelet has a modern triple-folding clasp. When trying one on, pay attention to how the broad bracelet meets your wrist; its fit matters more than the modest case diameter suggests.
