The Tudor Submariner 79090 pairs the familiar Submariner case with an acrylic crystal and an ETA movement—a combination that gives it much of the older watch’s character without a Rolex caliber inside. It is the generation to seek out if you like a date-equipped Tudor diver with the soft reflections of acrylic rather than the sharper look of sapphire.

Introduced in 1989, the 79090 came with black or blue dials and matching bezel inserts, Mercedes hands, and triangular hour markers rather than the earlier Snowflake layout. Blue gives this otherwise familiar design a distinctly Tudor identity; black keeps it closer to its Rolex sibling. Inside, the ETA 2824-2 is a straightforward, widely understood automatic.
