The Seamaster 300 takes Omega’s 1957 diver as its starting point, with a broad-arrow hour hand and a dial that gives the luminous markers room to breathe. It’s the quieter alternative to the Diver 300M: no waves, no date window, and no external helium valve to interrupt the case.

The 2021 generation, including black-dial 234.30.41.21.01.001 and blue-dial 234.30.41.21.03.001, brings recessed luminous markers beneath a sandwich dial, a lollipop seconds hand, and an aluminum bezel insert. The earlier modern version used ceramic; that difference is worth weighing if scratch resistance matters more to you than the softer look of aluminum.

Inside, caliber 8912 adds Master Chronometer certification and an independently adjustable hour hand—a useful detail when crossing time zones. On a bracelet example, try the clasp’s comfort adjustment and pay attention to how the watch sits: the vintage-looking dial doesn’t make this a vintage-sized diver.

What owners love

  • The recessed hour markers give the dial real depth, and the broad-arrow hands make it easy to read without cluttering it up. Owners particularly like the clean, no-date layout and the lollipop seconds hand.
  • The independently adjustable hour hand on the 8912 is genuinely useful when travelling: you can change local time without stopping the seconds or disturbing the minutes.
  • The bracelet’s pronounced taper makes it feel less bulky than the case dimensions suggest. The clasp adjustment is handy when your wrist swells during the day.

Common Criticisms

  • The polished centre links pick up visible hairline scratches quickly, and some owners find that shiny strip a little too dressy for the otherwise restrained design.
  • The warm-coloured lume is divisive. Owners who dislike it tend to feel that the watch would look cleaner with white markers rather than an intentionally aged appearance.
