The Bulova Accutron Spaceview makes its movement the main event: exposed coils, a tuning fork, and a seconds hand that glides rather than ticks. On an original tuning-fork example, the faint hum is part of the pleasure—an audible reminder of the electrical future watchmaking imagined in the 1960s. The open display began as a way for dealers to demonstrate Accutron technology; customers wanted the demonstration watches themselves.

For that original experience, look for the caliber 214, with its setting mechanism on the case back. Later electrostatic Spaceviews are a different proposition, not simply reissues of the tuning-fork watch. With a vintage example, establish whether it left Bulova as a Spaceview or was converted from a conventional Accutron; removing a dial alone does not establish factory provenance. Battery compatibility and the health of the delicate indexing mechanism deserve specific attention from someone who works on tuning-fork Accutrons.
