The Rolex Daytona 116506 puts an unexpectedly warm face on platinum: an ice-blue dial framed by a chestnut-brown ceramic bezel, with matching brown rings around the counters. Introduced in 2013 for the Daytona’s 50th anniversary, it was the first platinum Daytona, and its substantial weight gives a familiar 40mm shape a very different presence on the wrist.

This is the generation to seek if you want that anniversary-era combination with Rolex’s established 4130 chronograph movement and a traditional solid caseback. Its 2023 successor, the 126506, brought a new movement and an exhibition back. Dial choice matters here: the standard baton-marker version makes the brown counter surrounds part of the composition, while the baguette-diamond dial takes a different approach, without those brown rings. Neither is simply the same watch with different hour markers.
