The Speedmaster Racing 9900 trades the Moonwatch’s three-register layout for two counters and a racing-style minute track that gives the dial its own rhythm. Its neatest trick is the chronograph counter at three o’clock: elapsed hours and minutes share a register, so you read a timed interval much like a second watch.

Introduced in 2017, this generation revived a dial treatment Omega first explored on Speedmasters in 1968. Don’t confuse it with the smaller, earlier Speedmaster Racing powered by caliber 3330; the 9900 brings Master Chronometer certification and a substantially larger case. At 44.3mm, this is worth trying on rather than judging by diameter alone: the broad dial and case depth give it real presence. Spend a moment with that alternating minute track, too.
