The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean takes the Seamaster’s broad-arrow hands and turns them into a more muscular diver, with bold Arabic numerals, a rotating dive bezel, and orange woven through its identity since 2005. That familiar face spans markedly different watches: early aluminum-bezel models, later ceramic-bezel divers, chronographs, GMTs, and ceramic-cased offshoots.

The 1st Gen established the formula in 42mm and 45.5mm cases, using the automatic Co-Axial caliber 2500 behind a solid caseback. The 2nd Gen, introduced in 2011, brought ceramic bezels to the core divers and the larger, twin-barrel caliber 8500, visible through a sapphire back. With the 3rd Gen in 2016 came Master Chronometer certification and a reshuffled size range, including 39.5mm and 43.5mm divers.

Size alone won’t identify the branch. The Chronograph adds timing pushers and subdials; the GMT adds a second-time-zone hand. The Deep Black takes the GMT into a ceramic case, while the Ultra Deep is a substantially larger, 6,000-metre-rated diver—not simply another dial treatment on the standard Planet Ocean.
