Tangente

The Nomos Tangente is defined less by diameter than by its dial: fine Arabic numerals, spare hour markers, small seconds, and enough open space to make every line count. Those straight, angular lugs give the family its distinctive stance on the wrist, whether you prefer a compact hand-wound version or a larger automatic.

Introduced in 1992, the Tangente began with hand-wound movements based on the Peseux 7001; later examples adopted Nomos’s own Alpha caliber. The familiar 35mm model is only one branch, with smaller and larger cases carrying the same design vocabulary. The Tangente Datum adds a date display, while the Tangente Datum Gangreserve also shows how much winding reserve remains.

Automatic winding marks another useful dividing line. The Tangente Neomatik brought the slender DUW 3001 into the family, preserving much of the hand-wound models’ slim profile. The Tangente Update 41 takes a different approach: its DUW 6101 drives a peripheral date display, with two colored markers bracketing the current date around the dial’s edge rather than isolating it in a window.
