The Nomos Ludwig debuted in the early 1990s, soon after the founding of Nomos Glashütte in 1990. Drawing inspiration from classical German watchmaking, it embodies the brand’s commitment to Bauhaus design and precision engineering. Its elegant, Roman numeral dial and slender profile pay homage to traditional dress watches, while maintaining a distinctly modern sensibility.
Key features include a 35.0mm polished stainless steel case, minimalist dial with blued hands, and a hand-wound Alpha caliber—Nomos’s first in-house movement. Collectors often seek out early references like the Ref. 201 and limited editions with unique dial variations or caseback engravings. The Ludwig line has since expanded to include automatic and larger models, but the original 35mm remains a favorite for its purity and balance.
Today, the Ludwig stands as a symbol of understated sophistication and German craftsmanship. Its timeless design ensures it remains a beloved choice among enthusiasts who appreciate both heritage and innovation.
