The Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox puts a mechanical alarm on the wrist: set the central disc, wind the alarm spring, and let its buzz interrupt the day. Across decades of hand-wound and automatic versions, that separate alarm display—and usually a second crown—gives the family its unmistakable character without tying it to one case size or generation.

Introduced in 1950, the early Memovox was hand-wound, with caliber 489 among its foundational movements. Automatic winding arrived in 1956 with caliber 815; the later caliber 825 added a date. Both automatics use bumper winding, whose oscillating weight travels between spring-loaded stops rather than making a full rotation. Vintage examples can carry either Jaeger-LeCoultre or LeCoultre dial signatures, the latter familiar on watches sold in the American market.

Later Master Memovox models bring the alarm into a more contemporary dress-watch setting, with full-rotor automatic movements such as caliber 956. The central alarm disc remains the visual anchor, but case proportions, dial furniture, date placement, and winding architecture separate these newer watches from their mid-century relatives.
