Brycen
The Citizen Brycen is for the enthusiast who likes a busy sports dial but wants less fuss behind it: chronograph styling, with Eco-Drive doing the daily work. The attraction is that combination of wrist presence and practicality—not mechanical theater, but a watch whose pushers and subdials give you something to engage with.
It pays to distinguish the versions rather than treat Brycen as one fixed design. The BL5558 adds a perpetual calendar, making it the one to consider if you enjoy useful complications and don’t mind learning a more involved setting procedure. Its calendar deserves a functional check: the hands can show the correct time while the programmed date is wrong. For any Brycen, give the solar movement adequate light before judging its behavior; a depleted rechargeable cell can make an otherwise healthy watch seem troublesome.
