The Timex Ironman is a watch you operate, not just read: its digital display and readily accessible timing controls put the stopwatch at the center of the experience. Introduced in 1986, the Ironman earned its place on runners’ wrists by making lap timing practical without turning a training session into an exercise in button combinations.
There’s a reason to choose an early example if you enjoy the original graphics and period feel, but later versions with Indiglo illumination are easier companions after dark. The Ironman name covers many layouts and feature sets, so lap-memory capacity matters more than the badge if you intend to train with it. Try every button, confirm that the display retains all its segments, and test the light; also inspect the resin around the strap attachments, where age can make an otherwise usable watch fragile.
