The Sinn U1000 makes its mark as the brand’s flagship dive chronograph, engineered in Germany for extreme underwater use. Developed in collaboration with special forces divers, the U1000 is notable for its use of German submarine steel, giving it exceptional resistance to seawater corrosion and magnetic fields. Its left-handed crown and pushers set it apart visually and functionally, catering to glove use and minimizing wrist interference during demanding tasks.

Reference U1000 and U1000 S (the latter with a black hard coating) are the primary variants, both sharing the substantial 44mm case and 1000-meter water resistance. Inside, Sinn uses a modified Valjoux 7750 automatic movement with a central 60-minute counter for improved legibility—an upgrade that draws collector interest. The U1000 S typically commands a higher price due to its Tegimented, scratch-resistant finish and stealthier look.

Condition and completeness (box, papers, original bracelet) influence value, as do signs of wear on the black-coated U1000 S, where chips or scratches can be more visible. The U1000’s size and heft are considerable; it wears large even for a dive chronograph, so wrist comfort is a real-world factor. Sinn’s proprietary technologies—like Ar-Dehumidifying and captive bezel—add to both utility and collectibility, making this model a compelling, purpose-built tool watch for serious buyers.
