The Sinn EZM 3 puts its crown on the left and gives almost all the dial to the business of reading elapsed time. That combination explains much of its following: it’s a dive watch with an unusually disciplined face, built around Sinn’s preference for practical solutions over decoration. The subdued date stays out of the way, while the bezel and luminous hands do the talking. Even the crown placement has a purpose, keeping it away from the back of your hand.

Don’t confuse it with the EZM 3F, the pilot-oriented sibling with a countdown bezel and a lower depth rating. For the original diver, one distinctive inspection point is the drying capsule: its indicator darkens toward blue as it absorbs moisture, with deep blue signaling replacement. Examples use either the ETA 2824-2 or SW200-1; neither changes the essential character of the watch.

What owners love

The dial is unusually easy to read at a glance: white hands and markers against a matte black background, with very little competing for your attention. The subdued red date almost disappears until you deliberately look for it.
The left-side crown keeps it from digging into the back of your hand when you bend your wrist. That’s a genuinely useful detail if you wear it on your left wrist, not just an unusual design choice.
It wears more compactly than the 500m rating might suggest. Owners appreciate getting that capability in a 41mm case without the bulk they associate with many heavily water-resistant divers.

Common Criticisms

The dark red date is difficult to read in dim light, and sometimes even in ordinary indoor lighting. What makes the dial look so clean also makes the date less useful.
The left-side crown is less convenient for winding and setting if you’re accustomed to a conventional crown position. The comfort benefit while wearing it comes with a little awkwardness when operating it.
