The Patek Philippe Nautilus Moonphase 5712 puts its charm in the imbalance: a power-reserve display high on the left, small seconds low on the right, and a moonphase tucked inside the pointer-date display. Against the horizontally embossed dial, that slightly wayward arrangement gives the familiar Nautilus case a distinctly different personality.

Introduced in 2006, the 5712 uses the micro-rotor 240 PS IRM C LU to keep this collection of complications remarkably slim. The steel 5712/1A-001, with its blue dial and integrated bracelet, is the natural choice for the full Nautilus experience; the original leather-strapped 5712G and 5712R offer white- and rose-gold alternatives with a dressier feel.

One detail worth learning before wearing it: the calendar and moonphase use recessed correctors, not just the crown. Follow the movement’s adjustment instructions carefully, particularly around its calendar-change period.
