The Patek Philippe Calatrava is a family of dress watches whose character comes from proportion: the balance of dial, bezel, and lugs matters more than ornament. From compact, manually wound examples to larger automatic generations, its many references offer distinctly different ways to wear that restraint.

The starting point is reference 96, introduced in 1932, with a clean dial, subsidiary seconds, and a case roughly 31mm across. Later references expanded that vocabulary rather than simply enlarging it. The manually wound 3919 pairs a hobnail bezel with Roman numerals; the 5196 returns to the early design’s baton markers and small seconds in a 37mm case. The 6119 brings the hobnail treatment to 39mm, with applied baton markers and the manually wound caliber 30-255 PS.

Automatic Calatravas have their own distinctions. The 5296 includes both restrained baton-marker dials and sector-dial versions, while the 5227 combines a date display with a hinged cover over its sapphire caseback. Those details separate branches of the family that can look closely related at first glance: bezel texture, seconds placement, dial architecture, and winding system each change the watch’s character.

$9,852 – $45,907 spread of reference medians

Each price is the median ask from one reference's own listings, and a reference needs at least five to get one. Listings that don't name a reference are left out, and nothing is blended into a family price.
