The Patek Philippe Gondolo is a family of shaped watches, not one design: a curved tonneau and a crisp rectangle can share the name while wearing quite differently. For anyone drawn to Patek beyond its round dress watches, the pleasure is in those contours—and in movements that, on several references, follow the case rather than merely sit inside it. The name recalls Gondolo & Labouriau, the Rio de Janeiro retailer whose relationship with Patek began in the nineteenth century.

Start with the 5098 for its tonneau case and finely patterned dial, or the 5124 for rectangular geometry and small seconds. The rectangular 5200 takes a more technical direction, pairing hand winding with an eight-day reserve and day/date displays. Prefer an automatic calendar? The tonneau-shaped 5135 offers an annual calendar, though it still needs correction at February’s end. Try the particular reference on: case length and curvature matter more here than width alone suggests.
