The Omega Seamaster 2551.80 brings the blue wave dial, skeleton hands, and scalloped bezel of the 1990s Seamaster Professional into a genuinely midsize case. If you love that generation’s design but find the full-size 2531.80 too broad on the wrist, this is its automatic counterpart—not a simplified substitute.

Inside is Omega’s caliber 1120, an ETA-based automatic from before the Seamaster’s move to co-axial movements. The proportions are the point here: the five-link bracelet and prominent bezel retain their character without dominating a smaller wrist. Look closely at the blue aluminum bezel insert, whose scratches and fading are particularly noticeable against the dial, and test the scalloped bezel’s action; those shallow recesses offer less purchase than a conventional toothed edge. The screw-down crown should also engage cleanly, rather than needing pressure or repeated attempts to catch its threads.
