The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore takes the Royal Oak’s octagonal bezel and exposed screws and gives them a thicker, more muscular setting. Since its 1993 debut, the family has grown beyond the original 42mm chronograph into divers and chronographs of several sizes, with steel, precious-metal and ceramic cases lending distinctly different weight and texture.

The early chronograph established the Offshore vocabulary: a tapisserie dial, counters at 12, 9 and 6, and substantial crown and pusher protection. The 42mm Chronograph 26170 and Chronograph 26470ST belong to that familiar layout, while the Rubberclad makes its rubber-covered bezel part of the design rather than merely a strap choice. The 44mm Chronograph 26400 takes the proportions further, with broad ceramic bezel surfaces and pronounced pusher guards.

A more recent branch, the 43mm Chronograph 26420, uses the integrated flyback caliber 4401 and moves the counters to 3, 6 and 9. The Diver follows another path entirely: no chronograph counters, an internal rotating timing bezel, and a second crown at 10 o’clock to operate it.
