Explore Audemars Piguet

Audemars Piguet grew out of the watchmaking world of Le Brassus, in Switzerland’s Vallée de Joux, where it was founded in 1875. Complicated pocket watches were an early specialty, and that appetite for intricate mechanisms still runs through the manufacture: perpetual calendars, minute repeaters, and movements whose openworked bridges reward a long look through a loupe.

The Royal Oak, introduced in 1972, gave that tradition a sharply different silhouette. Its octagonal bezel, eight exposed screws, patterned dial, and integrated bracelet made steel the setting for remarkably refined watchmaking. The slender Royal Oak “Jumbo” remains the clearest expression of the original design; the Royal Oak Offshore, launched in 1993, pushed the same vocabulary toward thicker cases and a more muscular presence.

Introduced in 2019, Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet takes another route: a round bezel over an octagonal case middle, openworked lugs, and a curved sapphire crystal. Its architecture deserves attention from the side, not just straight across the dial.
