The Tissot PR 516 brings a genuinely watch-specific piece of racing design to the wrist: the original 1960s models wore bracelets pierced like a steering-wheel spoke. Today’s 40mm PR 516 Quartz Chronograph takes that sporting idea in a different direction, with three counters and a tachymeter bezel rather than a literal recreation of the early watch.

Choose the quartz version if you want the chronograph look without making winding part of the routine. The modern PR 516 Mechanical Chronograph is a separate, larger 41mm proposition with a manually wound movement; it is worth distinguishing the two when comparing examples. Vintage PR 516s broaden the story further, including three-hand watches as well as chronographs. On those early pieces, the distinctive perforated bracelet is worth particular attention: it contributes much more to the original design than an ordinary replacement does.
