The TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre Heuer 01 takes the Carrera’s chronograph layout and opens it up, trading the restraint of earlier models for a dial full of mechanical detail. Introduced in 2015, it marked a distinctly more architectural direction for the collection, with the skeletonized versions making the movement part of the everyday view rather than something reserved for the caseback.

The Heuer 01 developed from TAG Heuer’s Calibre 1887, retaining a column-wheel chronograph beneath that more technical presentation. The original 45mm format has considerable presence; pay attention to how its lugs sit on your wrist, not just the diameter. For the full effect, the skeletonized dial is the one to seek out, though its overlapping layers deserve a proper legibility test. Operate the chronograph, too: the central seconds hand and elapsed-time counters should return cleanly to zero.
