The Rolex Datejust II 116300 gives the familiar Datejust a broader, more muscular stance, with a smooth steel bezel that keeps the extra presence from becoming too dressy. It is the one to seek out if you like the Datejust formula but find the later Datejust 41 a little too restrained in its proportions.

Introduced in 2012, this reference joined the fluted-bezel Datejust II as the cleaner-looking alternative, pairing its polished bezel with an Oyster bracelet. The distinction from the later 126300 matters: both measure 41mm, but the Datejust II wears more substantial, with a wider bezel and bolder dial furniture. Inside is the 3136, rather than the newer generation’s movement. Try it on with that broad bezel in mind; the nominal diameter tells only part of the story. And if you encounter one on a Jubilee bracelet, know that the 116300 was supplied on Oyster, not Jubilee.
