The Orient Mako 40 trims the familiar Mako formula into a watch that feels less sprawling on the wrist, without losing the rotating bezel and sturdy build that made the family a favorite. The change is more than size: a date-only display and a case without crown guards give it a cleaner face and a less crowded silhouette.
Introduced in 2023, this is the version to seek out if the older, larger day-date Makos never quite suited you. Sapphire replaces their mineral crystal, while the automatic F6722 supports hand-winding and hacking—useful refinements when setting it precisely. The bezel still supplies the familiar Mako character; pay attention to how its marker lines up at twelve and how positively it clicks. Those small mechanical details matter on a watch whose pleasure is largely in everyday handling.
