The Hublot Big Bang arrived in 2005 with a deliberately layered construction: a broad bezel secured by six H-shaped screws, exposed case components, and rubber alongside metal. That combination still ties the family together, but the name now spans compact quartz models, automatic chronographs, and openworked watches with very different mechanical personalities.

The original 44mm chronograph established the familiar arrangement of three subdials, bold applied numerals, and a rubber strap. Smaller versions followed, so diameter alone does not identify a generation. The Big Bang Unico marks a more substantial departure: its open dial reveals the manufacture flyback chronograph mechanism, including the dial-side column wheel, with both 45mm and later 42mm versions making up important branches of the range.

Other branches change more than the dial treatment. The Big Bang Integral builds the design around an integrated bracelet, while the hand-wound Big Bang Meca-10 trades chronograph counters for an exposed gear train and a ten-day power reserve. Across generations, steel, gold, ceramic, and carbon constructions give that same layered architecture distinctly different weight and texture.
