The Casiotron is where Casio’s watch story began: in 1974, it introduced a digital watch with a calendar that could account for different month lengths automatically. That small convenience was a substantial achievement, and the restrained LCD display still has a charm quite separate from the brand’s later, tougher-looking digital watches.

The TRN-100 belongs to an earlier revival of the Casiotron name, rather than the original 1974 generation or the solar-powered, connected TRN-50 introduced in 2024. It’s worth keeping those generations straight: choose the original for the early electronics, the TRN-100 for a later take on that design, or the TRN-50 for modern convenience. With an older example, make sure every LCD segment appears and the pushers reliably advance the settings; a partly formed numeral can spoil the very thing that makes a Casiotron satisfying to wear.
