The Casio Duro gives you the familiar pleasures of a dive watch—a rotating bezel, clear dial and screw-down crown—without making ownership a project. Enthusiasts love it because it gets those fundamentals right, with quartz practicality and a little personality from the marlin on the MDV-106 dial. Its 44mm case is substantial, though, so the question is less whether you like divers than whether you like this much watch on your wrist.

The distinction between the MDV-106 and MDV-107 is worth knowing: the latter drops the marlin branding while retaining the same basic dive-watch formula. Choose the former if that small fish is part of the attraction. On a used example, pay particular attention to the crown threads and bezel action; the crown should engage cleanly, and the bezel should turn counterclockwise with definite clicks. The mineral crystal can pick up scratches, too.
