The Breitling Premier B09 Chronograph 40 trades the brand’s familiar cockpit instruments for a quieter kind of chronograph: Arabic numerals, two recessed counters and rectangular pushers. The pistachio-green dial is the version to seek out if you want that restrained design with a little unexpected color; its brown leather strap makes the pairing feel surprisingly natural.

Introduced in 2021, this model draws on the Premier line Breitling launched in 1943, but its manually wound Breitling B09 is thoroughly modern. Winding it yourself is part of the attraction, and a meaningful distinction from the larger automatic Premier chronographs. Try it on rather than assuming 40mm means especially slim: there is still a substantial chronograph underneath that dressier face. When handling one, give the rectangular pushers a proper workout and check that both chronograph hands return cleanly to zero.
