The Breitling Chronomat Evolution is the Chronomat at its broad-shouldered, highly polished best: a substantial chronograph whose bezel rider tabs and densely layered dial leave little doubt about its identity. It rewards a reader who likes mechanical detail on display, rather than a watch that tries to disappear under a cuff.

The steel A13356 belongs to the generation before Breitling’s in-house chronograph movement, using the Breitling 13, derived from the Valjoux 7750. That distinction matters: expect the familiar 6–9–12 counter layout and occasionally noticeable rotor motion, not the later B01’s architecture. Dial contrast is worth weighing carefully; with this much information, clearly separated counters make a real difference. Try the Evolution on if you can—the 44mm diameter tells only part of the story, and its thickness and broad bracelet give it considerable presence. Pay particular attention to the screw-down chronograph pushers: their collars should thread smoothly and securely.
