A pair of His & Hers precious metal, Genta-inspired, two-tone dress watch by Credor (a subsidiary of Seiko). **Model**: 9570-5210 Credor **Year**: August 1984 (Large Watch) and November 1984 (Small Watch) **Video**: [A video of the watch in action.](https://imgur.com/a/aJYv07s) **Features**: ***- The Brand***. Credor is the sister company of Seiko, and much like the re-birth Grand Seiko has gone through in recent years, Credor has also transitioned well into the modern market, with releases like the Eichi II and GCLP989 turning heads. And just like the aforementioned Grand Seiko, Credor also has a strong sense of history and identity in its vintage releases. The 9570-5210 is no exception, bearing all the hallmarks of a vintage Credor; a focus on precious metals and an angular Genta-inspired design. ***- The Design***. Gerald Genta is often credited with changing the way watches are designed, much in the same way Giorgetto Giugiaro changed the way sportscars are designed. Genta is famous for his use of integrated bracelets and unique/sharp angles, and this is perhaps best demonstrated with his Nautilus and Royal Oak case designs. What you may not know is he officially designed two watches for Seiko (Credor) in the late 1970s and early 1980s, namely the “Locomotive” and 9461-5010, both of which feature strange angles and integrated bracelets. Thanks to Mr Genta’s love of Japan, both he and the then President of Seiko, Reijiro Hattori, formed a close relationship, with Genta’s wife later revealing that it was Hattori who strongly encouraged him to start his own brand of watches instead of only designing for other companies. Given Genta is said to unofficially have had his hands on thousands of watch designs, across dozens of different companies, it is not a stretch to imagine the early 1980s 9570-5210 Credor, with its sharp angles and integrated bracelets, as being inspired, either directly or indirectly, by Genta and his close relationship with Hattori. ***- Ultra-thin***. At 4.4mm with a quartz movement, it’s incredibly lightweight and comfy on the wrist. It feels like you’re wearing [nothing at all](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlREUROGwpI). The integrated bracelet is very well shaped and isn’t a hair catcher. ***- Precious Materials***. 18k gold indices and hands, 14k gold bezel, a sapphire crystal, and an onyx crown. If the overall look and feel wasn’t dressy enough, it’s only 4.4mm thick! It has a beautiful “keyhole” bracelet clasp which is the perfect cherry on top of this beautiful dress watch. ***- His & Hers.*** In the 1980s, these Credors were traditionally sold in pairs. I’m offering them as a pair with a discount of $150, but they’re also available individually (although priority purchasing would be given to anyone wanting to buy the pair). **Condition**: In good condition overall. The crystals are both perfect, and dials and hands are in great condition. The bracelets and case have minor scuffs and scrapes, but nothing overly troubling. The photographs accurately represent the marks on the bracelets and cases. The gold on the folded part of the Men’s buckle has been scratched away, but it isn’t visible when the watch bracelet is closed. **Scope**: No original box or papers. **Movement**: 9570 Quartz **Men’s Watch Dimensions:** **Case Width**: 29mm **Case Thickness**: 4.4mm **Lug to Lug:** 32mm **Women’s Watch Dimensions:** **Case Width**: 23.5mm **Case Thickness**: 4.4mm **Lug to Lug:** 27mm **Bracelet length:** 17.8cm (fits wrist up to 7”) and 14.5cm (fits wrist up to 5.7”) **Price**: The pair are offered at **$590** plus shipping (costs $5-$30 depending on where you are in the world). I happy to sell them individually, priced at $390 (Men’s) and $350 (Women’s). I accept Wise, Paypal, Credit/Debit Cards and Bank Transfer, depending on your transaction history/Reddit history. **Of note**: Nothing to report.
