A very rare King Seiko Vanac Hi-Beat watch in great condition. Stunning Vibrant Lime bright Yellow Satin bursh Textured sunburst dial on a robust beefy case. Super solid build quality. Golden Raised Applied faceted indexes. Comes with Seiko vanac signed original W-link bracelet. All JDM made in Seiko daini factory. KS signed crown. Amazing condition at 52 year old, ready to be used as a daily driver. Movement has been serviced. Good time keeping. Accuracy checked with timegrapher. Quick day-date complication. The polish is insane with sharp brushed lines and mirror finishing. Handling it, I can definitely guarantee this is superior to modern watches of the same price zone. Such pieces should be appreciated upfront to experience at full measure, pictures don't do justice to this beauty. Sunlight brings out most of its beauty. They were designed to have premium build quality but for only regions of Japan. Kanji(Japanese) date highly complements the dial. It has both English and Japanese (Kanji) day options. Seiko played more with the dials on King Seiko Vanac line up, extremely limited and the textures on dial are unlike any. A good Collectors piece. The King Seiko Vanac was only produced between 1972 and 1974, in a number of variations, sporting colorful dials, faceted crystals and angular cases. I tried my best to capture the dial on my phone but it should be appreciated in person for full measure.

King seikos are getting much rarer than before and prices are rising. They're are reissued at $3k which is insane. I believe the vanacs will be reissued at some point too. I'd say this is a good investment watch, specially in this condition.

The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten?) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha (精工舎 Seikōsha?), meaning roughly "House of Exquisite Workmanship". According to Seiko's official company history, titled "A Journey In Time: The Remarkable Story of Seiko" (2003), Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" or "success" ("exquisite" is usually written 精巧 from Chinese jīngqiǎo, while the meaning "success" is usually written 成功 from Chinese chénggōng).

Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. This includes not only major items such as microgears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs but also minor items such as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials.
