For sale is an unpolished near mint condition 37mm solid 18 karat yellow gold Patek Philippe Calatrava. The watch only 5196J-001 is a 5,655,XXX movement serial, and was produced post 2009, as evident by its Patek Philippe Seal movement.  The Calatrava features  a polished finish yellow gold case with curved Art-Deco style lugs and brushed sides, which is accented by a stepped flat polished bezel. The Patek is mounted on an OEM matte brown alligator leather, calfskin-backed strap, which is secured by its original solid yellow gold PPC stamped tang buckle. The Calatrava features an elegant silver opaline dial with applied polished gold faceted “obus”- style index hour markers, gold dauphine hands, and a small seconds display at 6 o’clock, complemented by a pearled minute track. The movement used in the 5196J-001 is the Patek Philippe Caliber 215 PS, which features an in-house PP Seal, compared to the Geneva Seal found on movements manufactured by Patek prior to March of 2009. The 215 PS offers approximately 44 hours of power reserve, and is running flawlessly.  About the 5196: The 5196J-001 was produced from 2004 until approximately 2022, and is the modern evolution of Patek’s first serially produced wristwatch, the beloved Calatrava Ref. 96, which was produced from 1932 to 1973. The 5196 is truly a special Patek reference, besides being the spiritual successor of the 96, as it embodies the same neovintage/classical aesthetics found on Pateks from the Philippe Stern era (1993–2009) and prior, while also exhibiting many modern stylistic traits seen on contemporary references from the Thierry Stern era (2009–present). Condition: The case has been preserved exceptionally well and remains unpolished with the only imperfection wear being a small ding on the edge of the bezel by 9 o’clock.
