For sale is a 1968 Omega Constellation ref. 157.0001, featuring the ultra-thin chronometer-rated Cal. 712 automatic movement. This reference stands out with its slim case profile and elegant design, and this example is particularly attractive with an original blue textured dial and the correct Omega mesh bracelet (ref. 2041). It also comes with the original Omega double box set (cream outer + red inner), a seldom seen bonus.
The watch was freshly serviced in August 2025 by my watchmaker and is running strongly at approx. +10s/day with an amplitude of ~300.

Condition

Dial: Original textured blue dial, untouched and in excellent condition. No relume or restoration.
Case: Stainless steel case with factory brushing and crisp lines, unpolished, showing only light handling marks.
Crystal: Acrylic crystal in excellent condition.
Crown: Original signed crown.
Movement: Omega Cal. 712 — a thin 3mm chronometer automatic. Recently serviced (Aug 2025), winding smoothly and keeping great time.
Bracelet: Correct Omega mesh bracelet ref. 2041 with signed clasp.
Caseback: Observatory medallion is sharp and well-defined with light aging.
Boxes: Includes original Omega cream outer box and red inner box — not commonly found with these.

Founded at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1848 by 23-year-old Louis Brandt who assembled key-wound precision pocket watches from parts supplied by local craftsmen. He travelled throughout Europe selling his watches from Italy to Scandinavia by way of England, his chief market. After Louis Brandt's death in 1879, his two sons Louis-Paul and Cesar, troubled by irregular deliveries of questionable quality, abandoned the unsatisfactory assembly workshop system in favour of in-house manufacturing and total production control. Due to the greater supply of manpower, communications and energy in Bienne, the enterprise moved into a small factory in January 1880, then bought the entire building in December. Two years later the company moved into a converted spinning-factory in the Gurzelen district of Bienne, where headquarters are still situated today. Their first series-produced calibres, Labrador and Gurzelen, as well as, the famous Omega calibre of 1894, would ensure the brand's marketing success.
