For sale is a 1967 ref 6217-8001 (aka 62mas), which was Seiko's first real dive watch. Much has been written about this watch on the internet, and Seiko has released several reissues in recent years. This is the original. It has an automatic movement (not hand-winding) and the watch is approximately 38mm in diameter. It can be hard to find them with clean lume and an attractive bezel, so this is a better than average example, IMO. The case is also sharp with original brushing and the caseback is prominent. It even has some original lume in the bezel. Please judge for yourself from the photos and let me know if you have questions. I also have some other 62mas examples I'm going to let go (including a couple that are serviced) if you're looking for something different.

My asking price is $2,625 USD by PP F&F, Zelle, bank wire, or other fee-free electronic payment. The watch and I are in the US (Colorado). Shipping included within the US. The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten?) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha (精工舎 Seikōsha?), meaning roughly "House of Exquisite Workmanship". According to Seiko's official company history, titled "A Journey In Time: The Remarkable Story of Seiko" (2003), Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" or "success" ("exquisite" is usually written 精巧 from Chinese jīngqiǎo, while the meaning "success" is usually written 成功 from Chinese chénggōng).

Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. This includes not only major items such as microgears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs but also minor items such as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials.
