I can’t express how much I love Universal Genève. Genta designs, thin cases, in-house movements – it’s truly a wonderful company. This 1956 Universal Genève is two of the former, as it wasn’t designed by Gerald Genta, but it still offers great value for the price. The watch measures 30.7 x 37.5 mm. I know it’s small by today’s standards, but this was a common men’s size back in the 1950s. It features a gorgeous off-white dial with painted indexes and a gold-colored UG logo. Inside is the caliber 800, a manually-wound movement with 17 jewels. It was recently oiled by my watchmaker. The strap is in decent condition, but you can easily swap if you’re not into lizard-looking leather. For transparency, the only thing worth noting is a small spot where the case is losing its plating. Fortunately, it’s in the back, so it’s easy to miss. Other than that, it’s in fantastic shape, with some patina on the handset. **Details & More** **Condition:** Very good. The crystal and dial look pristine.
