# SBGF021 Video: [https://imgur.com/a/jsKArgo](https://imgur.com/a/jsKArgo) Selling a Grand Seiko SBGF021 driven by the 8J56 movement, which features a 5 year battery life (instead of the 3 year of the later 9F series) as well as an independently adjustable hour hand so that changing the time will not require re-syncing the watch (also something the 9F dropped). Additionally, the movement is still a high-accuracy quartz (HAQ). The size is a very well-proportioned 38mm in width, with 44mm lug-to-lug and only 9.5mm thickness. The lug width is 19mm. The screwdown crown gives this a water resistance of 200m / 20bar, again superior to that of its successor models (doubled). The case and dial finishing is incredible, and the Tatami texture on the dial along with the thick applied markers combine to make a stunning piece. This example comes with original inner and outer boxes, guarantee paper, manual, and has a bracelet measuring about 7.25". Additional links can be purchased and included if needed. The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten?) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha (精工舎 Seikōsha?), meaning roughly "House of Exquisite Workmanship". According to Seiko's official company history, titled "A Journey In Time: The Remarkable Story of Seiko" (2003), Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" or "success" ("exquisite" is usually written 精巧 from Chinese jīngqiǎo, while the meaning "success" is usually written 成功 from Chinese chénggōng).

Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. This includes not only major items such as microgears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs but also minor items such as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials.
