For sale is a watch with a lot of character and patina. It is a titanium version of Sinn's first automatic chrono in space (until it was discovered that Col. Pogue went rogue and snuck his personal Seiko up to the space station a few years prior! haha

I bought this watch from a guy in Bermuda who wore it lovingly and it looks like a lot! The case has signs of wear with small dings and scuffs. The engraving on the casebook that shows a space shuttle is worn down, but there. The bright orange hands have faded to a light peach. The rest of the dial looks patina's too. Next to one that was never baked in the Bermuda sun, this one looks ancient and when I polled my local club which they liked better, more people picked this one. But, they might be biased liking the look of vintage watches more.

It has the Lemania 5100 central minute chrono and a German "day of week" wheel. Done be offended if the watch tells you "DIE" which is DIENSTAG (aka Speedy Tuesday).

This is the rarer titanium case and weighs 114 grams (my steel one was 172 grams).

The bracelet is good for about 7.25". I do not have extra links or box or papers.

This watch was serviced in the middle of 2023. There are the caveats to that ...
  • The watch is keeping incredible time... 1-2 seconds a day
  • The chrono works - starts, stops and resets
  • The screw down crown works with about 1/2 a turn
  • The winding has a strong mechanical feel. There is some resistance felt... the crown on these is tiny so you gotta crank it with the tips of your meaty fingers
  • The day/date mechanism is not perfect. The day/date is set by moving the crown clockwise or counter clockwise. The watchmaker could not get this to fully function correctly. The "day of week" manually changes, but the date sometimes changes. I am going to just call the date change "non functional".
  • The crystal was replaced. The original had the non-reflective coating marred in so many places it was distracting
  • Parts were replaced on the inside too and gaskets updated. Obviosuly, don't go swimming or showering in a vintage chrono.
I have been wearing this watch and forgot how nice the light case is. These are not small watches so mitigating the heft makes it a better wearing experience IMHO.

I am selling as-is with the disclosures the best way I can describe it. It would make a great daily watch if you don't care about that. If you do, then it is probably not for you.

Please excuse dust on outdoor photos! Wind was blowing leaves everywhere! haha

Asking price: $2300.

I would consider trades, but please don't offer a bag of rocks or give lowball price offers. I prefer moola since I am saving for a big grail.

Thanks!
