Now THIS is a cool Rolex Datejust! Straight from the original owner, a renowned photographer (who has asked to remain private for the listing, but I will share information with the next owner.) As the story goes, he was brought in to photograph Fidel Castro in the late 1950s. He noticed Castro wearing a similar Datejust and fell in love. It became his grail watch that he was finally able to purchase years later. He’s now downsizing and is trusting me to offer up this special piece to the community! This watch has lived one hell of a life - the guy photographed Marilyn Monroe and Samuel Beckett, to name a few more! I just had it fully serviced, so it will come with a one-year warranty from my watchmaker so its next owner can enjoy it as much as its previous owner did! REFERENCE: 16014 YEAR: 1978 DIAL: Absolutely beautiful silver Sunburst dial that has a slight even creamy aging to it, such an amazing look! All of the lume has gone dark pumpkin, even across the hands and the hour markers. A few spots on a couple of the hour markers, and then patina on the seconds hand, but all in looks fantastic! CRYSTAL: I believe it’s the original plexi crystal, so it has wear, and has been polished, but looks great! CASE: Really nice 36MM stainless steel case with solid 18K white gold bezel! The case has been previously polished, likely at a past service or two over the decades, has picked up wear since, but all in a nice, honest example. And every scratch on this one certainly has a story to tell! MOVEMENT: Iconic Rolex cal 3035, so you get quick set date, which is fantastic. This was picked up yesterday from my watchmaker after a full service, so will come with his one year warranty. As expected it’s working beautifully!
