For sale is an extremely rare vintage Seiko Presmatic Hi-Beat 5146-7000 from December 1969 (acc. to the serial number).

The stainless steel case is in very good condition with extremely sharp edges and no deep scratches or cuts. The asphalt-style textured black or anthracite coloured dial with (original) fine silver sprinkles provides impressive evidence of this watch being a premium example within the Seiko model ranges. The applied block indices still bear the original luminous material, as do the hands. The plexiglass has a crack in the rim area at 8 o'clock.

The Seiko calibre 5146 is a refined version with 4 Hz or 28,800 A/h of the 5106A automatic movement, which was already equipped with manual winding and fine adjustment and was used in the 1960s in high-quality Seiko automatic watches labelled "Seikomatic" or "Presmatic". The present movement works flawlessly and keeps time within vintage standards (accuracy within 1m/24h). However, its service history is unknown to me. The day/date change works flawlessly, as does the hacking second and the quick date adjustment by pushing in the striking original crown. The day display is exclusively in kanji (with Saturday in blue and Sunday in red), the day disc is slightly offset (which should be easy to fix).

The case diameter is 40mm without and 41mm with the crown. The lug-to-lug distance is 42mm, the (hidden) lugs are 18mm wide. The watch comes on a green shark-style leather strap.

I am asking EUR 190,- for this Japanese rarity as described above plus international insured shipping from Austria (EU).

Here come the pics (please ignore the unflattering reflections on the third picture, these are not scratches):

The watch is located in Austria (EU) and so am I. I do have plenty of international references from various watch enthusiasts (also known here), so please feel free to ask for them.

Just for the records: I am a private collector and, therefore, the watch comes without any personal guarantee given by me. Nevertheless, I am offering to give a full refund less fully insured shipping expenses in case the piece sold would not be as described by me (within an inspection period of three days and to buyers from within the EU only due to the complex customs procedure in case of an overseas deal).

Thanks for reading and thanks to the Chronotrader platform and its host!

Kind regards,
F.Antl
