The year was 1974, and Mr. D. L. Lovely had done something right - A promotion? A big sale? 50 years with the company? Maybe won the company-wide hotdog eating contest? Whatever it was, he was about to be rewarded. The Continental Can Company was a fixture in the North American landscape. Thousands of employees, a considerable product assortment, and in operation for 70 years as of 1974, the company had a seeming obsession over Omega watches. Seriously, throw "Continental Can Company watches" into google images and you'll be greeted with presentation watches of various models - All omega. Back to D. L. Lovely. He receives this presentation watch (a watch gifted, generally inscribed with the name/dates/accolades) and decides he's not much of a watch guy. I can only assume that his wife bought him a Timex a few years earlier, and he'd be sleeping on the couch if he so much as touched this watch. She was mostly likely a strong woman - Stern, but fair. So, Mr. Lovely stowed his watch in the top drawer of his dresser, and forgets about it. Years later, this is found and bought by a local Omega enthusiast - Probably from Mr. Lovely's children, who place intrinsic value on the Timex from their mother (as papa was too busy putting in time at CCC to be much of a father). With that out of the way, some specifications on the watch. This is a 1974 Omega Automatic Presentation Watch, and it's new-old-stock. This is the full set - with the booklet, watch, and inner case in PERFECT condition - With the outter box having a some scratched up corners. My research has yielded the following: This watch has the Omega Calibre 552, which was also used in the Seamaster 300 dive watches. The bezel is solid 14 karat gold. The remainder of the case is clad with gold over stainless steel. The watch has never been serviced, as it's never been worn. The strap is in like-new condition. The rear of the watch reads "FOR LOYAL SERVICE | D. L. Lovely | CONTINENTIAL CAN CO OF CANADA LIMITED| 1974" The size measures 34.5mm wide by 41mm long. A good condition (albeit worn) version of this same presentation watch recently sold for 880$ USD, and as such I am happy with the price I'm asking.
