I am offering for sale this very decent example of an all-original Seiko 6138-8021 chronograph aka “Panda” from March 1978. As any serious vintage chronograph collector knows, the Seiko Panda is a coveted early automatic chrono equipped by the workhorse 6138 movement and good examples retaining their case contours are increasingly hard to come by.

Case – The 40mm wide stainless steel case (excl. the crown) has some nicks here and there with the most notable one being on the lower right lug but it still has all the original outlines and I doubt it has ever been polished. Crown, pushers and caseback are original and in great vintage shape. The crystal has been replaced during service in 2020 by what appears to be an original part.

Dial and hands – The linen-style silver dial with its charcoal subdials is one of the highlights of this model. This particular piece shows only very few and minor stains – a common phenomenon with original dials – that remained untouched during the latest service and are hardly visible to the naked eye. Handset and day/date wheel (EN/ES) are original and show no discolouration. The original luminous material still glows when being activated.

Movement – The Seiko 6138 movement was serviced in February 2020 and works exactly as it should with all the chrono functions (start/stop/restart/reset) given, timekeeping is unobtrusive.

Strap – The watch is sold head-only but I can leave the simple charcoal leather strap mounted upon the buyer’s wish.

Price – Given the original condition and movement service I am asking EUR 980,- for the watch, international insured shipping included.

The watch is located in Austria (EU) and so am I. I do have plenty of international references from various watch enthusiasts (also known here), so please feel free to ask for them.

Nevertheless, I am offering to give a full refund less fully insured shipping expenses in case the piece sold would not be as described by me (within an inspection period of three days and to buyers from within the EU only due to the complex customs procedure in case of an overseas deal).
