Greetings OF Community- another 6139 Chrono for sale

The watch: I am offering for sale a SEIKO 6139-6012 Automatic chronograph from 1974, also know as “Gold Bruce Lee”, as the actor famously wore the 6139 watch (his was a black dial). This watch is considered by many to be the first automatic chronograph, coming to market early in 1969. The 6139 movement is a well known and highly regarded workhorse, with many different dial combinations offered. This has the more unusual SEIKO gold case with gold starburst dial, which is a beautiful color particularly in the hand.

The watch is in very good condition, with signs of light use

DIAL: One of nicest clean Gold starburst dials I have seen, with clear tachymeter text and hour and minute and minute fraction markings. Dial is clean with no damage or markings. Intact clean lume plots which glow after strong light exposure but fade quickly, consistent with vintage lume. No lume degradation or wabi noted. Subdial at 6:00 typical for this reference with 30 min markings intact. Dial markings with proper text and fonts. Day/Date window at 3:00, black, working well with English and Spanish day wheel. Black indices and black sweep make for nice contrast with gold dial.

HANDS: Original gold/black hour/minute hands with intact lume, briefly glowing then quickly fading . Black sweep hand and subdial hand good condition same color consistent with both being original.

BEZEL: External bezel is gold plate excellent condition, internal bezel is fixed Tachymeter scale.

CASE: Gold plate stainless steel case with original circular brush finish, minor marks consistent with age of 50 yr old watch, shown in detailed photos. No evidence of machine polishing noted, case lines intact.

CROWN/PUSHERS: Original unsigned crown, functions well. Original pushers functioning well, with start/stop chrono (top pusher) and chrono reset (bottom pusher) functioning crisply and well. Chrono resets to zero.

CASE DIAMETER: 39 mm, very wearable size

CASE BACK: Screwdown caseback, marked Stainless Steel 6139-6012 Water Resistant, Serial number 493378 dating watch to September 1974. SEIKO and Suwa logo, Japan A at bottom. Some wear and scratches consistent with age, couple of case opening scratches noted.

MOVEMENT: 6139B Automatic chronograph, clean and keeping good time. Chrono functions working as they should. Day/date change over at MN and quickset functions normally. Nice easy quickset function.

SERVICE HISTORY: Purchased from well known Seiko watchmaker in UK, watch was serviced 2020 prior to my purchase, no documentation of service details. I have owned for 2 years working well. I have worn it once or twice around house shortly after I got it, that’s about it.

BRACELET/STRAP: Comes on a near new black leather alligator pattern strap, will throw in another one your choice of several new Nato straps (black, navy or red-white-blue) or dark brown 2 stitch New Kvarnsjo Vintage 2 stitch strap, (19mm) with quick change integrated springbars, from Sweden (CNS straps) See watch with strap photo.

CRYSTAL: Seiko Hardlex (mineral glass) crystal, quite clear, recently replaced which is near flawless.

ACCESSORIES: Watch and strap only, no papers or box
