Up for grabs is a true legend among Seiko divers: the Marinemaster 300 SBDX001. I’m in the final stages of downsizing my collection ahead of an overseas move, and this is one of my last, and hardest cuts. This example is in excellent condition, honestly the cleanest SBDX001 I’ve personally come across and is 100% original. I purchased it from a Seiko collector with a substantial collection, and it was in near-NOS condition at the time. I’ve worn it carefully during my ownership, so there are light signs of wear here and there, but it has never been polished. The case lines remain crisp, and the Zaratsu polishing is still bright and sharp. Notably, this is one of the only MM300 variants (SBDX001 / SBDX003) that does not feature Seiko’s DiaShield coating, meaning it can be properly polished or refurbished in the future if desired. This model is also free of the Prospex logo on both the dial and crown, giving it a clean, uncluttered, pre-Prospex aesthetic. This is one of the main reasons I specifically sought out the SBDX001. Service history is unknown, but it has always run flawlessly for me. Accuracy is excellent, the bezel action is outstanding, the screw-down crown has loads of thread, and the movement winds buttery smooth. Alignment is spot on, this example really represents the pinnacle of Seiko divers. The watch comes as a full set, as shown in the last phot to include the original strap which is unworn. I also have a black Crafter Blue curved strap along with an additional genuine Seiko MM300 ratcheting clasp, which I can include for an additional $100. This setup should accommodate wrists up to 8”. (The strap and clasp will not be sold separately until the watch sells, and pricing will be higher afterward.) I’m also pretty sure I have an Uncle Straps GL-831 20mm strap, short length, laying around that I will throw in with the MM300 free of charge. This one is very hard to let go, but after a lot of deliberation I’ve decided to cover the diver slot in my collection with my Seamaster 2254.50 and let this gem go.
