For sale is a nice King Seiko 4502-7001, ticking away at a brisk 36,000 bph/10 beats per second. This hand-wind beauty is a great example of Seiko’s Grammar of Design from this period—flat polished surfaces, sharp changes of plane, flat bezel, simple but elegant dial design—a lot of thought went into the cosmetics here. The mechanicals are no different, featuring instant date change and smooth second hand in one of Seiko’s all-time-greatest movements. This is perfect for anything from business casual all the way to evening formal—you’ll find every occasion to wear this piece of art. This one is freshly serviced and running well, and keeping time around -5 to +5 seconds per day depending on how you wear and wind it. Crystal has some faint marks but nothing significant other than a ding right on the edge at 5:30. Dial is in good shape for a 50+ year old watch, but to be super picky I’ll note a blemish between the applied KS and the 8 o’clock index, a tiny dot by the 10 o’clock index, and some characteristic discoloration on the far edge by the date window. Case has usual marks from wear, but I don’t see any evidence of polishing. Medallion and crown are both present and in nice shape. Comes on a handmade leather strap, sorry, no box or papers.
