Downsizing the collection! Today I’ll begin with three watches by British micro-brand Marloe Watch Company. First is the out-of-production **Coniston “Bluebird”**, perhaps the most desirable of the colorways. Hand-wound (non-hacking) movement, sapphire case-back, a really cool “negative” lume scheme. An automatic edition was recently released and is still in production - this is the hand-wound, and as far as I know the “bluebird” color way is not represented in the automatic reissues. I’ll include an official leather band with signed buckle, slightly worn but lots of life left in it. Asking $**280**. Watch (and strap) only - no box or papers. Second, the well-out-of-production **Cherwell**. Also hand-wound (non-hacking) with a very satisfying tactile response from the Seagull ST36. This piece challenges photography because there is so much depth in the raised squares of the dial-matched single-second indices and the concentric circles of the small seconds complication, and because it is a domed crystal. There is a love-it-or-hate-it factor on the wrist due to size alone: for me, this would be perfect if the dial were smaller, but I have to let it go because I have skinny wrists and it’s large in diameter at 43.4mm. Third-party leather band included with some significant wear but it is high-quality. A beautiful, classy, dressy piece in my opinion. Asking $**200** OBO. Watch (and strap) only - no box or papers. Third, the very polarizing **Astro** (Futura color way). I chose this because for a while I was collecting Marloe watches, and because I didn’t have a watch that wasn’t round at the time. I leaned into the “space” theme and got the one I thought reminded me most of the mid-century space program - white dial, complete with a dark blue velcro branded strap. Definitely feels a bit like something that should be worn with a spacesuit (though not convinced it could handle the vacuum or temperature fluctuations of deep space - no promises, please let me know if you successfully test this). Worn twice: once when I first got it, a second time to assure myself that it’s just not for me - something about the shape just didn’t work on my wrist. This also comes with Marloe’s extremely lavish (for a micro-brand) packaging - box with thick illustrated booklet containing essays on the watch and its design influences, specs card, a tote bag and a NASA-esque fabric patch.
