Up for grabs today is the elusive Seiko SKX011K. For those unfamiliar with this reference, the SKX011K is by far the rarest variant of the SKX line. The SKX011K was produced for only one year, from 1996 to 1997, with this particular example dated August 1997. The more common SKX011J followed and remained in production until the SKX line’s discontinuation in 2019. This example is not only exceptionally rare but also 100% original and unmodified. It retains its original 7S26A movement, dial, hands, Hardlex crystal, bezel, insert, strap, and more. The case is completely unpolished and sharp, showing only light signs of wear. The insert, dial, and hands are flawless. The crown screws down with multiple turns, bezel action is fantastic and the alignment is excellent. The crystal has a very small, light scratch near the 2 o’clock marker, visible only at certain angles, so I chose not to replace it to preserve originality and because it is not noticeable on wrist or in pictures. It’s clear this SKX spent most of its nearly 30 years stored away. I acquired it from the UK, where I was told the movement had been serviced although no paperwork was included. To confirm its originality, I had my local watchmaker open it, verifying the original 7S26A and that fresh gaskets were present. The movement was found clean and running well within Seiko specifications. What makes this example even more special is that it comes as a complete set: original box, outer sleeve, warranty card dated January 1999, original rubber strap, and even the hang tag. As a long-time SKX collector, I can confidently say I’ve never seen another SKX011K as original and complete as this and I doubt another like it exists. I’ve enjoyed having this piece in my collection, but I’m letting go of a few watches. The original rubber strap is now far too old to wear, so it will come mounted on a genuine Seiko Jubilee that will accommodate wrist up to ~ 7.5 inches.
