[WTS/WTT] 1964/65 Tudor Manual Oysterdate Ref. 7992 Cal. 2403 w/ DEADSTOCK 60s Rolex Black Alligator Band (Seeking =$4299)
[WTS/WTT] 1964/65 Tudor Manual Oysterdate Ref. 7992 Cal. 2403 w/ DEADSTOCK 60s Rolex Black Alligator Band (Seeking =$4299)
For vintage Tudor funk, look no further than this example. With the infamous Tudor rose logo depicted on the hour marker/indice at 12 o'clock rather than the more-common printing on the dial itself. This is such a great, rare, little detail. With a caliber 2403 manually-wound movement inside, this Oysterdate benefits from the lack of self-winding by slimming down its case. In thickness, this Tudor checks in at just 9.5mm, quite thin for an Oyster Rolex case which wears so, so comfortably. Another nice detail about this watch is the very rare non-lumed “sword” hands, seen more commonly on Rolex Oyster Perpetuals of the same time-period. Most 35mm Tudor Oysterdates from this period were given a roulette dial (red/black), however, this particular example was given the classic black/white datewheel–again, more-closely related to the Rolex Datejusts from a similar period. Paired with a NEW-OLD-STOCK Genuine Rolex Leather/Alligator strap w/ a Spanish Steelinox Rolex buckle, this Tudor OysterDate manual 35mm is ready for any occasion. Very rare, and even more classy. This watch was most likely built sometime between (late) 1964 and (early) 1965; sold somewhere in Spain or South America. The dial is marked "T" for Tritium, but it seems no longer is any lume present. Under a UV light, the timepiece shows no signs of lume ever even being applied (extremely rare), though I could be mistaken. The dial also has a nice patina, showing signs of oxidation and/or spores. The rarest parts of this watch are the extremely rare Tudor dial & sword hands AND the Genuine DEAD-STOCK Rolex Alligator Band (circa, 1960s). PLEASE NOTE!!!: ~ Though in used condition, the watch is in immaculate shape given its age. I do, however, believe this watch needs a service, but not desperately given its current accuracy readings. In June 2025, I sent this timepiece to Tudor's Service-Center in Rhode Island. The watchmaker's at Tudor stated they no longer have the required equipment and/or parts to repair/service the timepiece, so an outside vintage watchmaker would be required if you choose to have it serviced. ~ ROLEX SUBMARINER BOX NOT INCLUDED!!!!! _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Details: Make: Tudor Model: Oysterdate Manual Reference #: 7992 Year: Late 1964 to early 1965 Date-Wheel: White/Black [non-roulette (i.e. more-rare)] Case No: 5xxxxxx (blurred for privacy BEFORE purchase) Crystal: Acrylic [Plexiglass] Lume: Marked as Tritium, though no lume is visible anymore due to age or factory mishap (i.e. extremely-rare) Caliber: Tudor, manually-wound, caliber 2403 Bracelet/Strap: NEW-OLD-STOCK Genuine Rolex Leather/Alligator strap w/ Spanish Steelinox Rolex buckle ~ Come's with additional unbranded navy-blue 19mm genuine-leather band _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Specifics: Material: Stainless steel Dimensions: 35mm diameter; 9.5mm thickness Lug Width: 19mm History: Purchased from ORIGINAL owner (allegedly) Box/Papers: No box, No papers Accuracy: +/- 5-10 Seconds Per Day Condition: Pre-owned Power-Reserve: Roughly 36 hours ~ Never Been Polished ~ Never Been Serviced
